Chief Pete Edochie MON is a Nigerian actor who was born on the 19th of March 1947 in Zaria Nigeria. He is considered as one of the most talented actors and forefathers of Nollywood. His prominence came after he played the role of Okonkwo in a Nigerian Television adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Novel Things Fall Apart. A man of the Igbo tribe, Edochie is a Roman Catholic by faith and is well loved for his composure, calmness and charisma he showcases while performing.
In 2009, the actor was kidnapped but was later on released and luckily nothing bad was done to him. In September 2017 he endorsed the wiki media movement to increase awareness and use of Wikipedia among older generations. The actor started Radio broadcasting When he was 20 and later on was pushed up to a director. When the government decided to politicize the affairs, Pete decided to quit since everyone was compelled to move out . The role he played in Things Fall Apart gave him an award and even attracted the BBC who decided to come and interview him.
In 2005 ,the Actors Guild of Nigeria placed him and many other Nigerian actors on a one year ban from filming due to the fact that they were collecting large sums of money from producer because of their A-List actor status.
He is the father to veteran actor Yul Edochie. Edochie remains one of those actors who has taken Nollywood to the lamp light so far as acting is concerned .
